Undergraduate Program

In 1983, Shenzhen University was established, and it established the Department of Mathematics. In 1996, the College of Teacher Education established the Department of Mathematics Education. In 1998, the College of Sciences established the Department of Applied Mathematics. In 2006, the College of Mathematics and Computational Science was formed. The college subsequently established laboratories such as the "Mathematics and Applied Mathematics Laboratory," the "Intelligent Computing Laboratory," the "Financial Mathematics Laboratory," and the "Postgraduate Innovation Training Laboratory."In 2006, the university reformed the laboratory system, optimizing and integrating the laboratory resources that were originally under the College of Mathematics and Computational Science, and established the Shenzhen University Mathematical and Computational Science Experimental Teaching Center. In 2015, the college was renamed the "College of Mathematics and Statistics," and the center was renamed the "Mathematics and Statistics Experimental Teaching Center." It also established a "Mathematical Finance and Insurance Actuarial Laboratory" (now renamed the "Financial Mathematics Laboratory") in collaboration with Shenzhen Guotai'an Education Technology Co., Ltd.

Currently, the Mathematics and Statistics Experimental Teaching Center has two teaching laboratories: the "Mathematics and Applied Mathematics Laboratory" and the "Financial Mathematics Laboratory," covering an area of approximately 200 square meters. It is equipped with about 523 pieces of equipment with a total value of approximately 8.35 million yuan. The center has four full-time laboratory technicians and also hires several graduate and undergraduate students as part-time laboratory technicians through part-time work-study programs. Each academic year, the center's laboratories undertake 59 course experiments, 21 core courses for micro-specialties, and approximately 689 experimental projects. The number of students participating in experiments each academic year is approximately 3,245, with a total of approximately 100,396 student-hours.

The center has long adhered to the principles of "combining in-class teaching with out-of-class training," "closely connecting theoretical and practical teaching," "cultivating innovative thinking," "developing professional competence," "exploring entrepreneurial practice," and "strengthening school-enterprise collaboration in nurturing talents" to create an innovative and application-oriented talent development environment. It utilizes virtualization technology for modern teaching, keeps laboratory facilities open throughout the day, and facilitates the sharing of teaching resources, thereby providing experimental services for the teaching and research of the college's faculty and students.

The center has established a dual-track experimental teaching system of "course experiments + open experiments," a micro-specialty course resource experimental system, a Huawei Intelligent Base Course experimental system, and an AT Quantitative Research Trading Teaching System, among others, as software and hardware development platforms. Using virtualization technology, the center provides a high-performance computing environment and GPU data processing services to efficiently support the effective resolution of cutting-edge mathematical research problems.
